The Leuchtturm Gruppe is a multi-brand company and sells premium products in the areas of collecting, writing, lifestyle and gifting. The Leuchtturm1917 brand is known for high-quality paper and stationery, while the Torquato mail order company stands for „things with soul“. The supplier relationships of the family business from Geesthacht near Hamburg extend all the way to the Far East. In recent years, this has posed an increasing number of challenges for material planning. Building on the positive experiences with other business intelligence applications from Bissantz, a special planning application was developed in 2023 to enable demand-driven items to be purchased as required.
„The aim was to align our ordering processes more closely with sales requirements,“ summarizes Fabian Justa, Head of Purchasing at the Leuchtturm Gruppe. He played a key role in the development of the solution. Based on his demands and suggestions, Bissantz created a rolling sales plan over twelve months, which is carried out by the sales department in order to provide the purchasing department with a solid database for procurement. To simplify the input of plan values, DeltaMaster automatically pre-fills them. The planning application calculates these default values on the basis of actual data, extrapolated from the previous sales plan.
