Salinen Austria was no longer satis­fied with the previous solution for managing the company’s activities. A new solution was needed to manage all areas of the company, including the foreign subsi­diaries. This solution needed to include all manage­ment key figures, make the data of all foreign subsi­diaries centrally avai­lable and, above all, simplify their complex inte­gration. Further­more, the aim was to optimize planning accuracy and ensure that the controlling depart­ment could adapt reports inde­pen­dent of IT. Salinen Austria opted for DeltaMaster. Ever since, the business intelli­gence soft­ware is being used as a central analysis, reporting and planning tool.

The overall archi­tecture essentially corres­ponds to a typical data ware­house archi­tecture. Data is collected from hetero­geneous upstream systems in a central staging area and prepared for further processing. This is fed into multi­di­men­sional data­bases (OLAP), which are imple­mented in Microsoft Analysis Services. The data is accessed via various DeltaMaster appli­cations that the project team, consisting of Controlling and IT, has succes­sively deve­loped with the specialist depart­ments. The colla­bo­rative imple­men­tation is optimally organized: IT takes care of the data ware­house in close coordi­nation with Controlling, while Controlling is solely respon­sible for deve­loping and distri­buting reports and analyses.
