BI project improves the management of the company.
Salinen Austria was no longer satisfied with the previous solution for managing the company’s activities. A new solution was needed to manage all areas of the company, including the foreign subsidiaries. This solution needed to include all management key figures, make the data of all foreign subsidiaries centrally available and, above all, simplify their complex integration. Furthermore, the aim was to optimize planning accuracy and ensure that the controlling department could adapt reports independent of IT. Salinen Austria opted for DeltaMaster. Ever since, the business intelligence software is being used as a central analysis, reporting and planning tool.
The overall architecture essentially corresponds to a typical data warehouse architecture. Data is collected from heterogeneous upstream systems in a central staging area and prepared for further processing. This is fed into multidimensional databases (OLAP), which are implemented in Microsoft Analysis Services. The data is accessed via various DeltaMaster applications that the project team, consisting of Controlling and IT, has successively developed with the specialist departments. The collaborative implementation is optimally organized: IT takes care of the data warehouse in close coordination with Controlling, while Controlling is solely responsible for developing and distributing reports and analyses.
